How to pack an apartment in two weeks (without panic)

Our rental window is two weeks for a reason: it is about as long as packing stays productive. Give someone a month and the first three weeks are spent thinking about packing. Here is a plan that fits the window.

Days 1–2: the stuff you will not miss

Books, decor, spare linens, off-season clothes, the closet in the hallway. Anything you have not touched in a month goes first. This is the easiest packing you will do, so use it to build momentum while you are still enthusiastic.

Days 3–5: rooms you can close

Guest room, home office, anything that is not the kitchen or your bedroom. Aim to finish a whole room and then keep the door shut. Visible progress matters more than efficiency here.

Days 6–9: kitchen, in two passes

First pass: everything you do not cook with — serving dishes, the good glasses, appliances you use twice a year, the pantry overflow. Second pass, later in the week: everything except one pan, one pot, plates for the household and a couple of glasses.

Plates travel vertically, like records. Glasses go in a crate with paper between them, never at the bottom of a tall stack. Knives get wrapped and labeled clearly — the person who unpacks might not be you.

Days 10–12: bedrooms and bathrooms

Hanging clothes last, in a wardrobe solution so they go straight into the new closet. Empty every bathroom except one. Seal liquids in a bag before they go in a crate, because they always find a way.

Day 13: stage everything

Stack crates by destination room near the door, tallest columns against the wall. Take a photo of your electronics setup before you unplug anything. Pack the first-night crate and mark it so obviously that nobody can bury it.

Day 14: move

If you did the previous thirteen days, today is loading and unloading, not decision-making. That is the whole point.

The goal is not to pack fast. It is to arrive at moving day with nothing left to decide.

And afterwards

Unpack the kitchen and beds first, then stop. Stack the empty crates by the door as you go, tell us when you are ready, and we come get them. No flattening, no tape, no recycling run.

Crates at your door, picked up when you are done.

Packages from studio to four bedrooms, with delivery, pickup, a dolly and labels included across Miami-Dade.
